After an insightful week 1 discussion, I was very excited for Week 2 of the Women Who Code Mentorship program. We had two calls this week with our mentor Jap Leen Kaur. The focus of Week 2 calls was internships and placements.

Key takeaways

  1. Try to apply with a referral: it’s advisable to get in touch with a person working at the company you’re applying to, for a referral.
  2. Never mention anything false on your resume. Only include projects that you have built. In case of ongoing projects always mention ongoing.
  3. Never self reject.
  4. Maintain good social media profiles (like LinkedIn, Github etc)
  5. Never hesitate from cold emailing.
  6. Tailor your resume according to the specific role you’re applying for.
  7. Check company-specific questions before appearing for interviews.

This week we were assigned the task of getting our resume reviewed by our mentor. I am honestly so thankful for her valuable inputs and her patience in explaining and helping me throughout the whole week :p

Week 2 has been amazing and full of knowledge. We are given two tasks for the upcoming week

  • Scheduling a mock interview
  • Fixing on a particular number of questions to be solved every day

Looking forward to week 3 !!
