Women Who Code is a community-run by women engineers in the Tech industry who are doing wonders in their career and creating a great impact on society as well by sharing their inspiring stories and knowledge.

About The Program

It is a 5-week long program run by women engineers to uplift the participation of women in the Tech industry and create awareness about various crucial opportunities. A mentor is assigned to 2 or 3 mentees and based on the domain they prefer to work on they are given some specific tasks weekly.

Week 1

I was thrilled to get an email for onboarding as a mentee. I was extremely delighted to find out that I’m a mentee under Jap Leen Kaur Jolly ma’am. She is incoming Software Engineer at Google, Google SWE Intern’20, Google STEP Intern’19 and Director of Women Who Code Delhi. I was awestruck after getting to know about her achievements. She is extremely humble and her journey motivated me a lot!

The call began with our respective introductions and telling about our interests and what we expect out of this program. Jap Leen ma’am shared her insightful experiences and trends she has observed. She shared with us various internship opportunities and highlighted importance of data structures and algorithms. She advised us to have a good GPA and to never ‘Self-Reject’.

Our task for week 1 was to do some research on opportunities, scholarships and try to find the domains which seem interesting to us. Our mentor shared some scholarships and internship opportunities throughout the week:)

I am grateful to be selected for this mentorship program. Looking forward to the enlightening journey of the next four weeks!!
